Ppt Globalisation Education And Development The Case Of East Asia Thus far, the process of 21 st century curriculum reform in east asia has made three things clear: 1. socioemotional skills reinforce cognitive skills. across the region, attainment of basic competencies in literacy and numeracy, particularly in the less developed countries of the region, remains a concern. While ambitious digital transformation reforms are being introduced all over east asia, which aim to introduce not just new digital infrastructure but also ensure that curricula and pedagogies are adapted to improve learning, the role that education leaders can play in accelerating their implementation receives insufficient attention. Using case studies of how globalization has been understood and approached differently in three city states in asia, namely, hong kong, singapore, and shanghai, we argue that the specific form that globalization takes is shaped by local interventions of different kinds, linked to their distinctive histories and political systems. In a context of increasingly intensified globalization, higher education development in the asia pacific is picking up the pace in nearly all major domains including massification, governance, marketization, and privatization, and world university rankings. meanwhile, the internationalization of higher education in the region also deepens.
