Executive director nfa, mr. stuart maniraguha, said: “the authority is strategically engaging in meaningful partnership to contribute to uganda’s vision of increasing forest cover to 24% by 2040. together with dtb we shall restore degraded parts kasonke cfr.”. “the forest is of high biodiversity which is traversed by the kasonke stream. Nfa was established under section 52 of the national forestry and tree planting act and was launched on the 26th april 2004. forestry policy 2001. nfa is mandated to; “manage central forest reserves on a sustainable basis and to supply high quality forestry related products and services to government, local communities and the private sector". According to the nfa statistics, in 1990, the forest cover was at 53%; by 1990, it had reduced to 24%; and to 12% in 2017, citing that uganda has lost over 2.4 million hectares of forest cover. mubuku forest reserve becomes the second of the four central forest reserves to be replanted under nfa’s four year partnership with uganda baati limited.
