Gear Selection Problems Mg Midget Forum The Mg Experience I am having real problems with my 1275 midget gear shift. coming across the gate from second into third the lever seems to come across too far and it takes a great deal of time finding exactly where third is. once you've got the right position it's easy but it feels like there should be a 'stop' beyond the 3rd 4th gear plane. Re: 3rd gear only problem. pull the tunnel carpet back on the drivers side of the trans tunnel. you will find a rubber plug about 2"x4". remove the plug and you will find the trans fill plug. 20w50 motor oil is the normal oil used in the trans. takes about 1 1 3rd quarts to fill.

So i’m in the process of rebuilding a spitfire gearbox in my midget, and i’m having problems with nothing moving. i followed a few online tutorials and assembly diagrams and don’t know what the issue is. after i press in the bearings on both ends the main shaft spins perfectly and the reverse.
