For one of my scrappy cross roads block. you will need to cut 8 4 1 2" squares. you can easily get 8 from. one 4 1 2" x width of fabric strip…. so this means 1 8th yard of fabric = 1 block…. 1 yard of fabric = 8 blocks and so forth:) this is my 2 1 2" scrappy stash basket. that i am cutting my squares from. 6″ crossroads quilt block. 6 inches is the finished size of the block and the unfinished size is 6½”. do you have a box of scraps? the box below is batiks that are less than 2½” wide. i don’t get in this that much as i also have separate containers of assorted sizes already cut but for this block, i needed 1½” x 2½” rectangles.

Introducing my scrappy arkansas cross roads scrappy x’s and 16 patch quilt. this quilt uses an alternating 16 patch block with an x block. the dark x’s look black, but they are actually a navy color. the scrappy blocks are 2 x 2 inch squares (originally cut 2.5 inch squares with a 1 4 inch seam). i used a navy colored thread for the bobbin.
