Customer Reviews Star Trek The Original Series Season O Pros: transfer to blu ray makes it look better than ever; the dts hd 7.1 surround sound adds nice "punch". original mono is available as well. hey, it is "star trek: the original series, season 1"! cons: mostly minor: special effects not as "special" now, but, good for the time. Each episode is complete, not like the edited versions you see on television. the special effects are excellent. maybe in a few years there will a dvd player that can play both blue ray and hd dvd dvd's. this review is from star trek: the original series season one [10 discs] [dvd] i would recommend this to a friend.
Star Trek The Original Series Season 1 Blu Ray Walmart I think the consensus here is pretty clear with regards to "star trek the original series: the complete first season." after waiting for the original series to catch up with all of its descendants and have complete seasons available in a dvd package, it is really disappointing to see such limited extras given the wait (and the price, even with 29 episodes), especially in terms of commentary. The discs present a fullscreen 1.33:1 1080p transfer using the vc 1 codec. what is immediately apparent is the amount of restoration work that has gone into making these episodes look the best they have ever done, better even, i'll wager, than their first broadcast; considering the time it was made and the technology available a 1080 hi def transfer was scarcely considered. Cbs's new star trek: the original series season 1 is the best argument for trek fans to upgrade to the blu ray format you could ask for. everyone who worked on this set should be proud. i can't wait to get my hands on seasons 2 and 3 on blu ray (both of which are due in stores later this year). simply put: this is just a superior tv on bd. Score: 10 out of 10. languages and audio: a 7.1 dts lossless mix takes full advantage of enterprise flyovers and phaser blasts, but the majority of the episodes favor the front and center channels.
