3 Digits Multiplication Shortcut To Multiply By 999 Vedic Maths To multiply given numbers with 9999’s , we have an interesting formula, step 1: by one less than one before. step 2: all from nine and last from ten. eg 46 x 99: . 46 is a 2 digit number and 99 also has two 9’s in it. for lhs, subtract 1 from 46, i.e., 46 1 = 45. Example 1: product of 121 and 231. in order to carry out the multiplication by 3 digits we will divide the solution into 5 parts. the number of parts here is obtained by 2x n n 1, where n n represents the value in n digit multiplication. in case of 3 digit multiplication n is 3. Apply the principle of nikhilam i.e. subtract the digits from base – all the digits from 9 and last from 10. (write besides those numbers) (see below example 94 * 96). those numbers if positive will be called as exceses and if negative will be called as deficiencies. multiply those deficiencies or excesses. (write in 2nd compartment). Using nikhilam sutra it is simpler to multiply numbers like 98 & 95, 997 & 987, 102 & 112, 995 & 1008 i.e. the numbers which are closer to power of 10. this sutra is a specific method of multiplication in vedic mathematics which shows shortcuts to multiply numbers which are closer to power of 10 (10, 100, 1000, etc. ) this will generate 3 cases:.
